Is a Will You Be My Valentine link safe to open?

A link that really comes from myvalentine.to is a web page with your name on it and a Yes and No button. Opening it doesn't ask you to sign in, pay, download anything or give your email. Before you tap, check the address starts with https://myvalentine.to/. If a page asks for a password or card details, close it. MyValentine never asks the person who got the link for either.

What happens when I open a MyValentine link?

It opens in your browser. There's no app to install.

On a free card you tap to open an envelope, then see your name and "Will you be my Valentine?" with a Yes and a No button. Tap Yes and a short celebration plays. After that the page offers to let you build a letter of your own. That's optional, and you can just close the tab.

A custom letter can have more in it: the sender's own words, photos, a date plan, or a voice note that only plays when you press play.

What will MyValentine ask me for?

Nothing, if you only opened the link. As the person who received it, you won't be asked for:

  • your name or email
  • a password or sign-in
  • a card number or any payment
  • an app download

The privacy notice puts it plainly: "We do not ask for your name or email." Making a custom letter of your own is different. That needs an email sign-in and a one-time payment through Stripe. Opening a link, or sending a free reply, never does.

Will the sender see what I tapped?

On a free card, no. Free cards don't report your taps to anyone.

On a custom letter, yes. The sender is told whether the letter was opened and how many times, whether you tapped Yes, how many times you tapped No, and which option you picked. MyValentine doesn't record who opened it. All of this is in the privacy notice under "If someone sent you a link".

How do I check a link is really from MyValentine?

  1. Look at the full address before you open it. On a phone, press and hold the link. On a computer, hover over it.
  2. The part right after https:// must be exactly myvalentine.to. A name that looks close is a different site.
  3. Ask the person in the same chat if you weren't expecting it.
  4. Still unsure? Paste the address into a link checker you trust before opening it.

Close the page if it asks you to log in to "verify" something, enter card details, claim a prize, or install an app. MyValentine pages don't do any of that.

Can I get my name taken off a link?

Yes, you can ask. Email support@myvalentine.to with the link and MyValentine will look at it. This comes from the privacy notice, which also covers your other data rights.

Opened it? Send your answer back

If you want them to know what you really think, make a free reply link at myvalentine.to/response. Type your name and theirs, pick a Yes or No message, and send the link in the same chat. No account. See what the No button does.

Can a MyValentine link put something on my phone?

A MyValentine page is an ordinary web page. It doesn't download files or ask you to install anything.

Do I need the MyValentine app?

There isn't one. Links open in your phone or computer's browser.

Does a free Valentine link expire?

No. A free link has no expiry date, so an old link will still open.
